Best 29er 170mm Suspension Forks for Enduro Bikes

170mm forks suit enduro bikes built for steep lines, rough descents and bike-park days. A sturdy chassis and a capable damper matter as much as travel. Start with your frame’s approved fork dimensions, then choose the adjustments and price that fit your build.

This guide compares four 29-inch, 170mm forks from RockShox and FOX: ZEB Select B1, ZEB Ultimate B1, FOX 38 Performance Elite and FOX 38 Factory. The FOX models are the redesigned 2027 versions; the ZEB models use the B1 LinearXL platform.

Which 170mm fork should you choose?

The ZEB Select has the lowest manufacturer list price in this group and keeps damper setup simple. The ZEB Ultimate adds separate compression tuning and externally adjustable bottom-out support. Choose between them based on the controls you will actually use.

For FOX, start with the 38 Performance Elite if your priority is GRIP X2 damping adjustment. Factory adds the Kashima finish at a higher price. These are buying suggestions based on specifications, rather than a measured performance ranking.

Check fit before buying

Choose the 29-inch, 170mm version. Confirm your frame’s approved travel and axle-to-crown range, steerer diameter and length, front hub axle, offset, tire clearance and brake mount. Adding travel to a frame is not automatically an approved upgrade.

The ZEB B1 models specify a 200mm minimum rotor and 220mm maximum. These FOX 38 models specify a 200mm direct mount and compatibility up to 230mm; check the correct adapter and installation instructions. ZEB steerer options include 1.5-inch and 1.8-inch tapered versions, which are not interchangeable.

Prices are USD manufacturer list references checked November 2, 2026, not live offers. Retailer prices and availability may vary. Amazon buttons open searches; verify the exact model, year, wheel size and travel in each listing. Jenson product pages may default to another travel or color. Manufacturer illustrations may show another configuration. Published weights use different reference builds and should not be treated as a measured weight ranking. Colored indicators summarize specification and price tradeoffs.
